What is Gout?
So what is gout? Gout is a painful condition that I have suffered from in much the same way as anyone else that is unfortunate to experience it.
My first experience of gout was waking up in the middle of the night with pain in my foot. It was painful and did not ease. The pain was centered around my right hand big toe, I could see that it was starting to swell up and go red. This was alarming as I could not think of anything I had done to aggravate my big toe.
As the pain was not getting any better as the day went by I decided to take a trip to the doctor. My Doctor was quick to diagnose gout which was a surprise to me; I had heard of gout but had never known anyone with it. On asking my doctor ‘so what is gout?’ he bombarded me with questions about my lifestyle and diet. Apparently gout is quite avoidable.
My doctor prescribed me some drugs as per usual and I went away thinking that after the course of drugs it would be over. Well let me tell you I was naive, the very painful symptoms did go away after a week and I went back to my usual routine. When you ask yourself ‘what is gout?’ you should also ask yourself ‘why have I got gout?’, because a few months later it came back, and it was worse!
Again I went to the Doctor and again he prescribed drugs, this helped a little but they were not as affective as the first time, which meant the pain was more intense this time. This scared me a little and I decided I better take this condition seriously. So I did a little research and found out the following.
What is gout?
1) Gout is a from of arthritis
2) If your parents had gout then there is a 20% chance you will develop it!
3) Your Gender, ethnic origin and nutrition all contribute to the development of gout.
4) Gout is characterized by the amount of Uric acid in your body. This causes sharp crystals to deposit in the joints, usually around the big toe.
5) Alcohol can contribute to the development of gout, especially beer!
If you do not address gout correctly, the symptoms will return more frequently and will last longer!
What are the Symptoms of Gout?
a) Painful swollen joints characterize by redness around the joint.
b) Gouty arthritis will almost certainly return in the same joint.
c) The gout attack will become more frequent and last longer in duration.
When I found out the attacks would become more frequent I wanted to know what I could do rather than take a lot of drugs forever.
That is when I found Dr Jeffrey Sands DDS, and thank goodness I did. He helped me understand this condition in depth. He answered all my questions such as, What is gout? Why did I get gout? What can I do to avoid gout? He helped me overcome the causes of my gout which were mainly due to nutrition and lifestyle. I made some simple changes and the results have been spectacular. No returning gout and no drugs saving me a lot of money.
I am very happy I took the time to find the route cause of this condition; thankfully those painful crystals are not an issue anymore. If you would like to benefit from the information Dr Jeffery Sands gave me then feel free to have a look.
Say goodbye to gout and its painful and disabling symptoms. Do not suffer anymore. If you are still unsure and as still asking ‘what is gout?’ let Dr Sands explain and help you overcome the symptom of gout.
